Born in the 1980s in Calabria, Caterina grew up on the family’s farm in southern Italy, surrounded by vineyards, so it’s not surprising that her first interest was wine. Interest which turned to love while spending her summers serving customers at the family’s restaurant,Dattilio. She went on to study enology, and became an expert sommelier, but at the same time began to develop a passion for cooking, again while working at the restaurant. This led her, in 2012, to Castel di Sangro in Abruzzo, where she attended three Michelin-starred chef Niko Romito’s culinary school, andwhere Caterina soon discovered that her love for cooking was even greater than her love of wine. During this training period she gained precious experience working at Romito’s restaurant, Reale di Casadonna, followed by jobs in renowned kitchens across Italy and in France. Today, Caterina is Chef at Dattilo, in Strongoli (KR), where she offers apparently simple, yet refined dishes that are light and well-balanced, using local ingredients in full respect of the territory – an approach that. has allowed the restaurant to retain the Michelin star it was awarded in 2012.
